Niue, also known as “the Rock” is a large limestone island in the south Pacific and home to around 1400 people.  In the capital town of Alofi is the island’s only supermarket.  I spied this wonderful lady on her way in and asked her if she would mind if I took her photo.  She graciously obliged and provided me with my favourite photo of the trip.  In her dress and hat she reminded me of my Samoan grandmother and I was enthralled by her charm and kindly manner.  I looked quickly for a suitable place to photograph her and placed her against a section of shaded yellow wall of the supermarket (yellow being the national color of Niue) and fired off the last three shots on the roll.  I spent four minutes in her company and still think of her to this day.  Thank you to John Crane and the Nikon F6 project.
